At SKMA we teach the American style of Kickboxing which originated in the 1970’s, with the first PKA World Title bout taking place in 1974.

Kickboxing is a combination of full contact karate and boxing and was made famous by champions such as Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, Joe Lewis, Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Benny “The Jet” Urquidez.

At SKMA we have trained numerous champions in both Full Contact and Light Contact, and our fighters have competed in Ireland, Jamaica, Germany and Greece.

Our syllabus was developed by Chief Instructor Sensei Sean Kinsella, who has been training champions for the past 24 years.

 

We also teach K1 – kickboxing with extra permitted moves such as kicks to the leg, clinch work and leg grabs. We compete in this so that you can develop different styles of kickboxing on your journey to blackbelt.
